Blog 8

The past few weeks, we have learned about torque.  I learned that, as seen in the picture below, I am able to balance the object due to their being no net torque.  If there were a net torque, this would cause rotation, forcing the object to fall off of my shoulder.  However, due to the torque ccw and torque cw being equal, the object has no rotation, allowing it to remain on my shoulder.  We learned that torque is eqaul to (forceXlever arm length).  In the picture, the torques are equal because their distance to the lever arm (my shoulder) is equal.  The force is also equal because both sides have equal weights.  Torque was a very fun concept to learn about.
